A thanksgiving sacrifice I make…
Lent is a season where we, Catholics, are called to sacrifice. Many Catholics have decided to give up on something like social media, meat, or other forms of sacrifice. We also usually tie up our sacrifices to a few prayer intentions. And until I read today’s readings, it never actually occurred to me to make a sacrifice simply because I wanted to thank the Lord.
As I was writing this reflection, many thoughts came to my mind about justifying why we should be grateful to God. But as I was trying to pen them down, it felt like I was thanking God because I received something. I think God is inviting us to a simpler, and more profound feeling of gratitude.
To thank him, just because he is our Father; and we, his children.
This Lent, one of the ways we can thank him is to offer sacrifice. So, when we make that sacrifice, I pray that we all can smile and say, “I’m here just to thank you, Lord.”
I pray you can spend the next five minutes just thanking God.
