“You are witnesses…”
We are witnesses to God’s mercy and love.
Since last year, I have been assisting to tutor students at Club Rainbow. But this centre is unique because all the children there have special needs. As a person with special needs, I have found it meaningful to give back to society by helping my little juniors.
Seeing them is equivalent to seeing miracles of God in my life. One child at the club was a premature baby with multiple health conditions. Yet, she is indeed a miracle; she’s currently in Secondary 2 this year.
I was also born as a premature baby, and I’m 26 years old this year, having graduated with a university degree a few years ago.
Today’s Gospel, and my recent experiences, have brought to mind what Jesus said after He healed a man who was born blind. “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.” (John 9:3)
Helping these children in their studies has been a highlight of my past few years, as I realise that everyone is a witness to God’s abundant love and mercy.
Brothers and sisters, no matter who we are, how naughty or evil we’ve been, we’re all God’s children. Truly, we’re all called to bear witness to His love and mercy and works for others around us.
