Wednesday of Week 10 in Ordinary Time
1 Kgs 18:20-39
Mt 5:17-19
“The Lord is God.”
We recently completed a 24-hour vigil at our centre to commemorate the feast of Corpus Christi. So from after our Friday Growth session and mass, where the Blessed Sacrament was exposed, each ministry took charge of 2-hour segments to praise, worship and pray for various communities. There were 11 segments in all, ranging from Families to Priests and religious, Youth/Young Adults & Vocations to World Leaders & Peace, the Sick, Suffering and Marginalised to Church Ministries and Leadership, we kept the sessions open to the public.
The vigil culminated in a mass on Saturday night, followed by a solemn procession around the centre. By all accounts (I did not stay the entire 24 hours), many came over the course of this first-ever 24-hr vigil and joined us in praise and worship, as well as intercessory prayers. At the end of the mass and procession, despite the late hour, many stayed behind for fellowship and shared freely about their experiences.
Brothers and sisters, not many of us get to sit in front of Jesus openly and for an extended period. At CSC, we are blessed to have a perpetual adoration chapel that is open 24 hours and it is where I have found many moments of clarity, of peace and certainly of wisdom whenever I have sat in silence before Him. Certainly, when we have gathered as a group to pray together before Him, He has made His presence felt quite strongly.
And even though I am a visual person, there has never been need for a grand show of fire raining down consuming everything in its path, nor bloody sacrifices on altars of stone for me to acknowledge/recognise His presence. Granted, there are times when it is difficult to feel/sense Him in our midst (especially in times of desolation); all I can say is that we just have to trust in faith that ‘He is there’ and that the Lord, our God remains ever faithful to us and is always with us whatever our state of life.
Brothers and sisters, when is the last time you have felt God’s presence in your life? How has He been looking out for you and guiding you along, especially in times of trouble?

Prayer: Abba Father, you steadfastly remain by us, despite our failings and in spite of our sinful nature. We pray that you always be merciful and loving to each and every one of us as we go through life.
Thanksgiving: Thank you, Heavenly Father, for blessing us always.
