Monday of Week 14 in Ordinary Time
Hos 2:16,17-18,21-22
Mt 9:18-26
“Courage…your faith has restored you to health.”
Today’s gospel speaks of the healing of two women – one who was cured of haemorrhage and the other who was brought back to life from the dead. To the woman whom Jesus cured of haemorrhage, the words he said to here were “Courage., my daughter, your faith has restored you to health.”
Indeed, exercising faith requires courage. The gospel reminded me that faith is exercised when we move into the realms of the unknown. The unknown is always scary because there is as much foresight that a human brain will know. Did the woman know that Jesus was able to cure her of her haemorrhage? She did not, but she had faith that Jesus could do it anyway.
This made me think about my own life – what are my areas of haemorrhage that I need to be healed of? And have I had enough courage to ask for healing? If Jesus could cure the woman, he would be able to do the same for me too.

Thanksgiving: Lord Jesus, thank you for giving me the struggles in life so that I am reminded to surrender and always rely on You.
