26 August, Monday — Let us glorify Him through His calling for us

Monday of Week 21 in Ordinary Time

2 Ths 1:1-5,11-12
Mt 23:13-22

…we pray continually that our God will make you worthy of His call…

My parish Church of St Vincent de Paul recently celebrated the ordination of a new priest, Fr Clarence Yue.

Personally, I felt thrilled to witness this momentous opportunity, which is so rare to come by in our parish. What’s more, two other priests were ordained on the same day — a first for Singapore in 50 years.

God has called each and every one of us to do His will, although I still do not know what His will is for me, other than to be His daughter.

Also lately, I have begun the 33 days of the Marian consecration to the Morning Glory, and I’m at the stage where retreatants discuss how we can consecrate ourselves to our Blessed Mother through doing God’s will.

I once dreamt of becoming a religious sister as a child. But I admit that I’m nowadays too comfortable with my status quo – my family, my home, and my routine, partly due to my physical disabilities. It’s challenging for me to live independently away from my home, as I find it difficult to move around on my own without any assistance.

But I won’t give up hope in slowly finding out what is God’s will for me. And one day, I’m certain that God will help me to discover His will for me, help me to do His will to glorify His name, and make me worthy of His call.

(Today’s OXYGEN by Brenda Khoo)

Prayer: Dear Lord, please help us to discover Your call for us, and to make us worthy of Your call. Amen.

Thanksgiving: Thank You Lord, for calling us to be Your sons and daughters in Christ. Amen.
