25 December, Wednesday — He Kept His Promise

Dear Oxygen readers,

The Core Team wishes one and all a blessed, peaceful and joyous Christmas filled with God’s graces and love. May He continue to light out paths and guide us on our journeys as we come to know Him more.

Christmas Day – Mass in the Day

Isa 52:7-10
Heb 1:1-6
Jn 1:1-18

…all peoples see his glory.

One of the things I love about Christmas is that it’s so near the new year. There is definitely this yearning to look back on the past year and reminisce about the events in our lives. It’s really good that the readings less than a week before the year changes show how much God fulfilled His promise to us.

I’m pretty sure that for most of us, the year had had its happy times and challenging times. The times that we worry, and times where we get excited. Whatever we experience, I think it would be fun to walk down memory lane with Jesus and chat with him about the events in our lives.

I would imagine meeting Jesus for a breakfast near a park. We would talk about what happened in January as we sip our coffee or tea. We would look up at the sky as we talk about February. Perhaps, we’ll chat a little bit more about Valentine’s Day, and maybe I could ask him about St Valentine. We’ll walk around the park, stopping by to smell the flowers, and to admire the insects. And then, we’d chat about March and April. We’ll find some shade and open our picnic basket for lunch as we look through May and June. We would probably have a laugh over July, August and September, while I complain to him how busy those months were. I would probably ask him what I accomplished for the year, and if I at least made him smile even just once as we talk about October and November. And then maybe I’d ask him if there was a gift I could have prepared for him for his birthday. I think if you ask him the same question, he would probably say that you talking to him right now was already a gift.

What about you, my brothers and sisters? Where will you take Jesus for walk down memory lane? Will you invite him to fish with you? Would you hike together to the top of a mountain? Would you visit him in the Adoration room? Would you be chatting with him over wine?

Wherever you go with Jesus, I’m sure you’ll find that you’ll see his glory in your life this year. You’ll see how he took care of you and loved you. You’ll see how he kept his promise.

I pray that you enjoy this time with our Lord.
