3rd Sunday of Lent
Exo 3:1-8,13-15

Lk 13:1-9
“…it may bear fruit next year.”
In today’s Gospel, the parable of the barren fig tree illustrates God’s patience and mercy. The fig tree, though unfruitful for three years, is given another chance to bear fruit after the gardener’s plea for more time and care. This symbolises hope, as God provides grace and opportunities for repentance even when we fall short, allowing us to live fruitful lives.
I am reminded that just like the fig tree, I sometimes fail to see hope in areas of my life where I feel unproductive or stagnant. Yet, God’s patience and grace offer me constant opportunities for growth and change. God’s grace usually flows through the support from my family and friends, who constantly encourage me on. It is through these people that I experience the hope of God’s goodness for me.
Brothers and sisters in Christ, as we continue on our Lenten journeys, let us take the time to reflect on those times when God’s graces have flowed through others and touched our hearts.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I pray that you will grant me humility to seek support, and not to be afraid to ask for help, in areas where I feel stagnant or weak.
Thanksgiving: Lord Jesus, thank you for giving me the support system to encourage me, and giving me hope that I can overcome my weakness to lead a fruitful life.
