Tuesday of Week 14 in Ordinary Time
Gen 32:23-33
Mt 9:32-37
“The harvest is rich but the labourers are few…”
Today’s Gospel reminds us that Jesus sees beyond the physical needs of the people; He also sees their spiritual needs and exercised compassion towards them. Jesus is not only pointing out the richness in the harvest, He is also reminding us that we have the power to rise from being just observers to action takers, and encourages us to respond to the call of bringing hope, love and truth to others.
One area in my life where Jesus is encouraging me to take action is being compassionate to others; to see beyond their surface and be more understanding towards their deeper desires. This has helped me to exercise love, practise forgiveness, and to let others know that they are being loved and accepted for who they are.
Brothers and sisters, the world is already fraught with war, hate and division. Let us, as Christians, exercise prudence and temperance in all our encounters with others, so as to radiate the face of Christ around us.
