24 December, Saturday — Me before You : Action

24 December

2 Sam 7:1-5,8-12,14,16
Lk 1:67-79

“…for you will go before the Lord to prepare a way for him…”

Today’s Gospel shares with us Zechariah’s song of praise of God. Like Mary, two days ago, he too praises the graces that God has bestowed on His people. Zechariah also charts the path for John.

If I recall my journey with Fr Loiseau a few years prior to him passing on, at that point it almost seemed like many aspects of my personal life had come to a standstill, maybe even to an end.

Fr Loiseau taught me to believe and to humbly ask God for what I wanted, and to live my life the way God wanted me to. Be patient and He will make it beautiful – In His time.

Today, blessed with a loving wife and 2 beautiful children; I can experience God’s blessings and graces for me. I, in turn, can journey with others who might have been in similar situations and give them hope for a better tomorrow.

I will never forget that particular Christmas that year with Fr Loiseau. I ended the year with a warm, comforting peace that I’ve never known before. All because of that humble priest who taught me to pray the way I never allowed myself to learn how to.

(Today’s OXYGEN by Gerard Francis)

Prayer: We pray for the ability to receive God’s graces, relish them and in turn, use them as we minister to others.

Thanksgiving: We give thanks for the ability to appreciate and be thankful for God’s graces and to use them to help others around us.
