7 March, Monday — Let us pray for our Ukrainian brothers and sisters

Monday of the 1st Week of Lent

Lev 19:1-2,11-18
Mt 25:31-46

“…I was a stranger and you made me welcome… in prison and you came to see me.”

My heart goes out to our fellow Ukrainian brothers and sisters who are in a war with Russia. Many of them are fighting for their country, and many others have fled to other European countries as refugees.

I feel unsettled that war has happened so abruptly to a peaceful country. Let us pray for our Ukrainian brothers and sisters to either safely seek refuge in another country, or have peace restored in their hearts and in their motherland.

But amidst the discomfort, I realise that we need to treat all our brothers and sisters in life as children of God, whether or not they are non-Catholics, whether or not they are criminal, whether or not they like or dislike us. Only then can we be true stewards and disciples of Christ.

(Today’s OXYGEN by Brenda Khoo)

Prayer: Dear Lord, we pray for peace in Ukraine, and may the Russo-Ukrainian war be ceased quickly. We also pray that we can accept and live together peacefully our fellow brothers and sisters created by Your Heavenly Father. Amen.

Thanksgiving: Dear Lord, thank You for being with us despite challenging times of the Russo-Ukrainian war. Amen.
